Take Control of Your Treatment, Starting with Your DNA

Questions?Read Our FAQs

The PharmaGene Function Test uses a test developed by US Biotek laboratories, called FarmaIQ. This pharmacogenomic test analyzes your DNA to predict how your body may respond to various medications. It helps providers understand if a medication is likely to be effective, if dosage adjustments might help, or if there's a higher risk of side effects.
No. PharmaGene Function Test is not diagnostic. It doesn’t diagnose diseases or conditions. Instead, it helps guide medication selection and dosing based on genetic insights. Treatment decisions must be made by your clinician.
While the specific number can vary by report, the sample report spans many medications and categorizes each based on the patient’s genetic profile, focusing on metabolism and response. Refer to the detailed sample report for exact coverage at usbiotek.com

Results are typically available within 3-4 weeks after your sample reaches the lab. You’ll receive a detailed, easy-to-understand report with personalized recommendations. The total turn-around-time from order placement to delivery of results to the customer is 3- 4 weeks and depends on how quickly the saliva sample is returned to the lab.

Here is the step by step time line:

  1. Test payment
  2. Physician orders test
  3. 2-3 days post order US Biotek ships kit to consumer
  4. Consumer returns sample within 1 week of kit receipt
  5. Lab receives kit 2-4 days post kit shipment
  6. Test results are available 3-4 weeks post sample receipt
The test uses a simple cheek swab you can collect at home—no blood draw required. Your sample is then sent to US BioTek’s certified lab for analysis.
  • MAJOR PRESCRIBING CONSIDERATIONS
A potentially significant effect on drug response is predicted. There may be guidelines or a drug label recommending consideration be given to a change in the dose, the medication type, or further monitoring in order to minimize the risk of the potential clinical issue noted. Of note, “Major” prescribing considerations do not always preclude the use of a specific medication or necessitate a dosage change if the drug is currently effective and well tolerated, this will be dependent on the individual gene-drug interaction and the clinical circumstances.
  • MINOR PRESCRIBING CONSIDERATIONS
Altered drug response is possible, but either the clinical significance is thought to be minor or there is currently limited evidence available. Consider monitoring for any potential clinical effects annotated in this report. There are generally no specific recommendations to alter dosage or medication according to current guidelines.
  • USUAL PRESCRIBING CONSIDERATIONS
Genetic results are not predicted to have a significant effect on drug response, based on the literature currently available, and there are no additional prescribing considerations. Other factors may still influence drug response and therefore usual monitoring for adverse effects and efficacy still applies.
Results are securely delivered to your healthcare provider through the US BioTek provider portal. Providers then interpret the report and communicate it to you.
  • Sample FarmaIQ Report: Available here
  • US BioTek Terms & Conditions: Accessible on their website under “Terms of Service.
